Role Objective:
To promote physical, emotional, and mental empowerment of girls and women through the practice of Kung Fu as a tool for self-defense, personal discipline, and confidence-building. This role is part of the Empowerment School led by Comuna Project in collaboration with Apne Aap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a martial arts lesson plan tailored to girls (ages 9–13) and young women, promoting respect, self-discipline, and teamwork.
- Teach basic and advanced self-defense techniques, encouraging personal safety and self-awareness.
- Serve as a female role model, inspiring students through martial arts practice.
- Conduct regular assessments of individual and group progress.
- Collaborate with the psychosocial and educational teams to align Kung Fu training with other core areas: English, Math, and emotional development.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment based on respect and mutual trust.
Requirements:
- Woman with certified training in martial arts (disciplines such as Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Karate, or similar with a focus on self-defense).
- Previous experience teaching, especially with girls and/or women in social or educational settings.
- Ability to work with vulnerable populations with a gender and human rights approach.
- Cultural sensitivity, positive leadership, and strong group management skills.
- Availability to work in Comuna 13, Medellín, at least once per week.
