Performance Indicators for Comuna Project and
the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
To contribute to the SDGs, Comuna Project in 2024 is replicating and scaling actions in 3 areas in Medellín: Comuna 13 San Javier, Comuna 3 Manrique, and Corregimiento San Cristóbal. As a social innovation lab, we design and incubate ecosystems tailored to the potentialities and socio-community assets specific to each area of action. This includes developing metrics appropriately categorized according to local, departmental, and national development plans. In this regard, our ecosystems are contributing to the SDG targets as follows:
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. CAPSI provides psychosocial support to beneficiaries and their families. Additionally, it conducts training workshops on preventing domestic violence, parenting skills, new masculinities, preventing child labor, and adapting to new living environments.
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. The Nomadic School and CAPSI enhance the employability of our beneficiaries through our collaborative business networks, thereby improving the living conditions of families.
SDG 4: Quality Education. The Nomadic School offers free, high-quality training in Social Entrepreneurship, Business Management, English Language, and Environmental Sustainability, aligned with our theory of change and triple sustainability.
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. We promote responsible and environmentally-friendly tourism in Medellín, supporting our entrepreneurs and beneficiaries in their triple sustainability projects. We create added value through recycling and the reuse of recyclable waste materials.
SDG 5: Gender Equality. 80% of the beneficiaries of our educational and psychosocial support processes are women. All these initiatives are developed with a differential approach aimed at reducing unpaid domestic work hours and providing effective support through groups, collectives, and corporations led by and for women.
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through collaborative efforts with universities, the public sector, and national and international private sectors, Comuna Project strengthens each of its processes to contribute towards its objective - improving people's living conditions through education and mental health.
